No pictures on this one! Just a little personal rant

My boyfriend advised me that maybe I should keep up with current events, you know, so when jobs (jobs? What are those?!) look at my blog they can say, “Wow! She keeps up with current events!” Um, am I not doing that? By all means, if I’m not, let me know. Oh yeah, before I forget, My Chemical Romance broke up Sunday… who the hell cares? Emo scene is dead. It’s been dead since I graduated high school. So maybe my blog is a little lame because I choose the topics I want to talk about but you know what? IT’S MY BLOG! I can write about dog poop if I wanted to and it wouldn’t make a difference. Actually, it really would. Instead of attracting bands, musicians, artists, and employers to my page, I’d have animals like dogs, cats, sheep, and a goat following me. If you’re a goat, you can follow me! I don’t discriminate… just as long as you comment! Which that side of my blog is pretty light in 😦 Hint, hint, wink, wink!

I like how I blog. I like to think I do a good job for a beginner. When I decide to blog, I always go to certain websites and check out the latest news on whomever is rocking the seas that day. Obviously, I try to keep to the rock/metal genre (except t.A.T.u, I just happened to enjoy them) and I pick out which story I want to blog about. Yes, I repeat the news in my own words but I also add my two cents in. I always make notes and then I add in what I think about the topic at hand.

I’m not bashing my boyfriend at all, although I do have a heavy sarcasm problem but it did kind of bugged me. It made me second guess myself that maybe I’m not keeping up with current events but then I thought about it… I do! I do keep up with current events, I just blog whenever I feel like it. I did appreciate his feedback. I know it’s sucky of me to not update at least every week but trust me; my goal is to post as frequently as my fellow blogger (and awesome photographer!) SethSnap but my laziness gets the best of me and I do get discouraged sometimes because my FRIENDS (yeah, I’m pointing you fuckers out!) refuse to comment or Like anything I post! I have strangers doing it instead, which does help me 🙂 at least SOMEONE is reading this!

Anyway, NEXT WEEK I’M GOING TO SEE STONE SOUR & IN THIS MOMENT! Allow me to impress you with my super, duper awesome dance break.

*super awesome dance break*

I’m way too shy to actually do a vlog so I hope you guys can at least pretend to watch me dance. I will definitely blog about that concert and will post pictures that I will personally take. They won’t be that good since I don’t have the best seats but what are you gonna do?

p.s. I tried attaching a funny gif that relates my feelings to my blog but it won’t show up! So, here is the link Zoidberg.

MAYHEM FEST 2013!

FINALLY! The lineup to this years’ 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival has been revealed and it is sexy!

Headlining this year’s Mayhem Fest will be fucking Rob Zombie (before I forget, check out Zombie’s latest lyric video for Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown), 5FDP (Five Finger Death Punch), Mastodon, and Amon Amarth. I dunno who’s Amon Amarth is but if they made the headliners’ cut then I’ll be looking them up! After all, 5FDP didn’t start at the top. The first time I saw 5FDP live was 2008 Mayhem Fest. They were on the Jagermeister stage along with Machine Head, Walls of Jericho, and other great bands. Anyhoo, 5FDP really stuck out because of their SiC drum kit that had spikes all over.

At that time I had owned a used (I use that word loosely, it was pretty banged up) drum kit so I was fascinated with awesome looking kits. The band played hard, fast, and strong; it wasn’t long before I caught them at Mayhem again in 2010. This time 5FDP wasn’t opening for any shitty upcoming bands nor were they being judged on the side stages, they were headlining with Korn, Rob Zombie, and Lamb of God. If you haven’t seen them live, you need to go find tickets now, they are worth watching!

5ive Finger Death Punch

I actually enjoy being a fan of theirs because it’s rare if I “discover” a band from their beginning and watch them progress. Did that make any sense? If it didn’t I’ll dumb it down or at least use proper English! I had heard about 5FDP and started to look up their music. The first video/song I heard was, you guessed it, The Bleeding. I instantly fell in love. I couldn’t wait to see them live and they fucking delivered. Since then I’ve witnessed their growth as a metal band all the way to headlining. No longer were they the side stage band and no longer were the words, “Fiver Finger who?” uttered. They are here to stay. It’s like seeing a child grow or a project move successfully forward.

I want to go further into the other headliners such as ROB ZOMBIE but it’ll take forever and honestly, if no one is reading this, there is no point. Next stage, Jagermeister! Machine Head has been in a couple Mayhem Fests. They were there in 2008 and 2011. Now, I am no one to judge but Machine Head, what’s going on? You guys have been stuck on Jagemeister and other stages and have not moved up! If I am wrong, please let me know. I feel like they haven’t moved up or “proved themselves” to be headliners for this awesome show… yet. Maybe this year will be their year!

Machine Head

Head banging along-side with Machine Head will be Job for a Cowboy, Butcher Babies, Battlecross, and Huntress. The next stage is the Musicians Institute. This will house Children of Bodom, Behemoth, Emmure, Born of Osiris, Motionless in White, Thrown Into Exile. I had gotten into C.o.B. late in life. I was told about them when I hit college. I never knew such hard metal even existed until then! I looked them up and I was hit. Not to mention Alexi Laiho is one foxy shredder and he speaks Finnish? Mmm! Needless to say I have been lusting – I mean, wanting – to see Children of Bodom live for years. Their music is enough to rock your socks off… and pants and shirts and panties… okay, I’m done 🙂

Last stage is the Sumerian which as of right now has only City in the Sea. No one has information yet on who else will be performing here but rest assure that the Mayhem Fest website will be on top of it. For dates and tickets for this fabulous show visit the Rockstar Mayhem Fest

Lacey Sturm steps down from Flyleaf

Flyleaf makes room for new front woman Kristen May.

Texas alternative metal band may be switching their tunes soon since co-founder Lacey Sturm called it quits in October of last year. Despite her singing almost sounding like she had marbles in her mouth, I actually enjoyed their sound. The music was heavy, lyrics were poetic, and a great cry when I was on my menzies!

Kristen May was front woman for the band Vedera before joining Flyleaf. I listened to their song Satisfy and I was not! The song was very soft and had a pop feeling to it. I felt as if I was listening to Christian rock, the radio friendly kind. You know, the ones that you hear when you go visit some doctor’s office or something. Not to say White metal sucks or anything considering I do enjoy some Underoath but c’mon… take the tampon out of your vag, Kristen. Don’t get me wrong, the woman is talented but her voice seems very pop friendly and I really hope the band won’t sound like that from now on. I hope it still sounds like Flyleaf. Kristen has that hipster look while Lacy looks like a grungy, dirty chick that woke up in her prom dress not knowing what alley she woke up in, grabbed a mic and started screaming.

I love that look. In fact, in high school and most of my college career, I rocked that same look. Mainly because I really did wake up a few times not knowing how I ended up where I did.

Back to the music! While Kristen may be the new girl for a metal band she did admit that she will still be focusing on her solo career, “This by no means will put my solo career on the back burner. I’m finally honing in on the sound I’m going for and couldn’t be more excited.” You can read more about her solo career there. I wanted to hear how she, as a solo artist, sounded like so I jumped on Youtube and searched. Distracted came up from what may appear to be her account. It may or may not be really her actual account; you know how “fans” are. Anyhoo, I nearly pooped out rainbows how chirpy and girly this song was. It was so girly it jump started my period.

Let me stop bashing her for a moment. I did give her a quick shot. I wanted to know if she could really belt out what Lacey could. They are working on a 14 song set album so there aren’t any music (or audio) videos to compare, however, I did find All Around Me being performed live with Kristen. I did enjoy it. In fact, what I enjoyed most about it is the same reason I second guessed her: her clear, clean voice. Lacey did a fantastic job on the vocals but Kristen’s voice is so crisp and clean I really did enjoy it. She hit the notes but I couldn’t make out if she really used her voice to do the opening scream.

Flyleaf will continue with the new change and Lacey appears to be completely alright with it. Lacey took the time to express her words on their website (which I cannot find the link for). “I understand that, for me, living life to the fullest in this season means to step down as the lead singer for Flyleaf. I wish the best to [band members] Jared [Hartmann], Pat [Seals], Sameer [Bhattacharya] and James [Culpepper] and I know that as I continue to pursue the highest heights of what I am created for, it will free them all to pursue that for themselves too.” You can read the rest of the article on Fuse TV.

New Horizons, the band’s last album with Lacey, is out in stores now J

Dropkick Murphys Rose Tattoo

I’m not too sure why but I have been stuck on Dropkick Murphy’s Rose Tattoo. Yeah, yeah, yeah I’m late, whatever. It all started with my boyfriend buying records – actual vinyl records. I was at his house one day, derping around as best I could, and then I hear this magical string sound. Out of half the record, this song really did stand out. I’m not going to sit here and talk about the band (mainly because I have to do research and I have already decided what I wanted to rant about and this didn’t make the cut, maybe another blog three months from now!) but what I will do is post the video because it’s awesome sauce.

KISS ME, I’LL PRETEND TO BE IRISH!

Not really, but I’ll draw on the freckles.
