Deftones’ Chi Cheng passes at 42 :(

Chi Cheng, Deftones’ bassist, passed away early Saturday morning, April 13, 2013. He was rushed to the hospital where his heart gave out and was pronounced dead at 3:00a.m.

He had suffered some major injuries from a car crash back in 2008. He was with his sister in the car when they crashed with another vehicle. While she had her seat belt on and suffered minor injuries, Chi was not so lucky. He was in coma for some time but then was declared to be in a semi-conscious state in 2009. Doctors also were positive on his improving progress, “… Doctors said he was ‘showing signs of improved neuro function.’ Recently he regained limited ability to move his legs on command,” according to Billboard.

 “Our dearest Family,

This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emegency room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped. He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.

He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone. I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi and any other information may not be reliable. If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the onelove site. Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.

With great love and “Much Respect!” Mom J (and Chi)”

His progress was being documented on the OneLoveForChi website created by fan Gina Blackmore (now, that is some serious dedication. Kudos, Gina, you rock!). LoudWire reported, “Deftones frontman Chino Moreno recently discussed the band’s relationship with Chi, telling Noisecreep, ‘When I was 17-years-old, I moved out of my parents’ house and moved in with him. We’ve been best friends most of my life. I’ll just be doing some random thing in my life and he’s always in my thoughts. The whole band feels very strongly about him and he’s always been a part of things.’”

Although the band continued performing and recording without Chi, nevertheless, he stayed close to their hearts. He was 42 and definitely will be missed.

Golden Gods at Wellmont Theatre

The Golden Gods show was freaking amazing! I threw up rainbows and small puppies and kittens! As promised, I did take some pictures but as I also mentioned they may not be the best. I tried taking some non sucky shots of Stone Sour and my brother took some of In This Moment. You had to be sitting where we were to really appreciate how close we were.  Normally, we would be sitting stupid far where we would be lucky to see the performer’s mouths moving but not this time! The Wellmont Theatre is pretty small so it worked out.

Let’s start off with the first band, Hell Or Highwater. They performed a few songs knowing damn well not many people had heard of them. The only two songs that my brother and I enjoyed were “Gimme Love” and “Hail Mary” from their album Begin Again. They did perform other songs but to be honest, to me, it was kind of lame. A+ for effort though! The rest of their set didn’t speak to me but front man, Brandon Saller, really did know how to get the crowd going. During one of their songs, Brandon went into the crowd and really got people pumped.

I think what didn’t match up was the drumming. Don’t get me wrong, Caption Carl, their drummer, was pretty awesome but it didn’t match with the music they were playing. It sounded a little power metal, half punk pop, rock… metal… pop… EYE-DEE-KAY! (IDK) It just sounded too messy for my liking. It was just everywhere!

In This Moment came up next. They performed old material like “The Gun Show” and new ones such as “Whore”, “Blood”, and “Adrenalize” from their new album Blood.Their set was the most theatrical of the three performances. I am convinced I will always be a fan of theirs. Not only is the front woman, Maria Brink, just drop dead gorgeous with big boobies (they totally are. Go ahead, Google Maria Brink, don’t worry, I’ll wait.) her performances are just backed up with such passion and angst that you cannot ignore her. The only complaint I had with her was her hair. Dude, seriously, what was up with your hair, girl? The entire, and I mean, the ENTIRE, time she was on stage she had to adjust her hair. Not that she was wearing a piece or anything but she kept messing with it. The props she had on her sides were blowing air and her hair everywhere and while she was singing she had to keep pushing her hair down to the front of her chest… I wonder what she was hiding!

I loved all the songs she performed. The most theatrical performances I have seen thus far are In This Moment and Rob Zombie. Of course, Zombie does kick In This Moment’s ass in that department, sorry guys! HUGS?!

Stone Sour was the big sha-bang! They opened up with their singles “Gone Sovereign” and “Absolute Zero” from their album House of Gold & Bones, PT 1. I don’t really have any complaints. Not only did they perform new material, they also charmed us with old school “Bother” where the lights illuminated front man Corey Taylor in the most intimate setting. Corey let the sea of fans before him finish off the last verse of the song. It was EPIC!

So there you have it! With pix! The concert was not too shabby. Then again, I was pretty intoxicated so I may have just imagined this whole thing 🙂 Stone Sour’s latest album House of Gold & Bones, PT 2 dropped yesterday, so fucking get it. For every minute you waste God kills a baby bunny. No… don’t kill the bunnies… they are so fluffy and cute!

In This Moment – Adrenalize

In This Moment unleashed their official music video for their second single Adrenalize off their latest album Blood. It is fucking awesome. The entire video consists of sweat, sex, creepy animal masks, and front woman Maria Brink teasing all those horny boys (and girls!) by literally ass grinding on the hospital bed she is lying on.

Posted on their official Facebook, the band posted, “We are thrilled to finally unleash the ‘Adrenalize’ video on the masses, we created something that surpasses our highly successful video for ‘Blood’,” also adding, “we are going to make you feel filthy, captivated and at the same time disturbingly aroused, love or hate us we guarantee you will keep coming back for more.”

Disturbingly aroused is right! Watch that video and tell me it doesn’t make your no-no parts tingle with rainbows. If you find yourself saying, “hey, this is pretty hot,” just remember, they are ANIMAL masks… you filthy bastard 🙂

Golden Gods tour TONIGHT in Montclair, NJ! I’M THERE!

Today is the day! I am going to see Stone Sour & In This Moment live at Montclair, New Jersey! It’ll be my fourth time seeing Corey Taylor and my second time seeing Maria Brinks and I cannot be happier! Along for the ride will be my brother. You see, my boyfriend isn’t a fan of concerts; he’s into books more (which btw, I ❤ that about him, my nerd). My brother and I share the same type of music and enjoy each other’s company.

We don’t have any metal friends who enjoy going to concerts so we stopped asking people and decided going with each other is just fine! 🙂

I’ve never seen Stone Sour live so I hope they rock just as hard as I hope they will. No worries for In This Moment since her voice can do no wrong! I will try my hardest to take some decent pictures and post them up here!
